Hi Moz,
What a great job you did in presenting this tiny spider, complients.
You ask for help with ID. Here it is: in my opinion you caught a Nigma puella (Simon) male. It belongs to the family of Dictynidae. I used the "Collins Field Guide Spiders" by M.J. Roberts. You may be proud on your "First on TN" . I have never encountered a living specimen of the Dictynidae family. My best regards, Dietrich

Hi Mozwik,
you got a very well captured Athalia rosae (L.) here, a small Sawfly. Tenthredinids are difficult to ID, I check with https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Species_of_Tenthredinidae. Thanks for participating on TN.

Hi Silvio,
such a fine, delicate little butterfly, this Wood White. Where I live the species is restricted to higher altitudes and not often seen.
Thank you for presenting it here, Silvio.

Hi Zeno,

great, this rain-soaked Redstart you present us. This species is not common where I live, the Black Redstart more so, which is essentially a mountain bird. Thanks. Greetings Dietrich

Hi Luciano,
the ugliness disappears with your good macro shot. The eye ! This species is not yet present in my yard, but of course you have warmer weather in the Ticino valley. You provide a good reminder of things to come.
Thanks for your presentation. Thanks also for your comments on my pics from Jordan and Egypt. My best regards, Dietrich

Hi Silvio,
this must be a first on TN. I never heard of a Riodinid butterfly whose larvae specialise on Primula before ... You not only photographed it well but presented it to TN. A special thanks for the detailed description in the note !

Hi Ori,
I like the contrast achieved with a flash, it sets the flower nicely apart from the environment. In your "Photo info" it says "Flash did not fire".
Are the granules flower buds or unripe fruits? The wilted leaves suggest the latter.

Hi Laurens,
you are seeking perfection! Your long familiarity with the mediterranean fauna shows too. The combination of both is irresitible !
Thanks Laurens for the presentation of many Buprestids on TN and for your instructive workshops.

Hi Luciano,
very good, a first time on TN! I admire your way that you identify the Geometridae species. I use the "Guide des papillons nocturnes de France" (R. Robineau et al. 2007) but the pictures are small and I spend hours guessing.
My best regards to you, Luciano.

Dear Laurens,

I like your Oil beetle, you got it in focus from head to tail ! I found a web site for ID of Melo禱: http://www.coleo-net.de/coleo/texte/meloe.htm. With this list of European species I arrive at Melo禱 proscarabaeus (L.). largely due to the nicked antenna, the black colour and the body proportions.

I did some work in the late 60ties on raising

Hi Luciano,
it is very good and you know it certainly. What if you lower the Colour temperature? Maybe the butterly would even more stand out with its interesting colours. And maybe this is a matter of taste and of the reigning light condition. Just a thought.
I wish you a pleasant weekend ! Dietrich

Hi Hasan,
now I know that Peonia is out in the wild in your part of the country, beautiful ! I have only one problem with the picture, you turned it sidewise. It is also quite clear why you did it, the TN site does not present pictures in portrait position well. A way out would be to show the same picture on your own website and make a link in the note of the TN picture. It works, I tried it (see ). It is explained summarily in "About/ FAQ/ 12".

Hi Biswarup,
I like your White throated Kingfisher a lot because it's an "unusual" shot from behind and somewhat below, the sun behind you. Good ! In this way the brilliant blue colours dominate. The only small problem is the focus which is not on the eye. Thanks for presenting the wonderful bird. Greetings, Dietrich

your stay in Levkada pays its dividends. Marvellous beetle, this Anthaxia. Too bad you don't give much details about your photographic equipment, it must be top notch.
