Mountain Gorilla Baby
If you are going to Uganda you have to visit the Mountain Gorillas. I will post more pictures and with each picture talking about a different topic. Today I would like to start with the question we all asked ourselves before starting the trek: how close can we get to these animals. Before leaving in the morning for Gorilla trekking the guide is briefing the group telling us that it will not be allowed to come closer than 7 meters to the Gorillas. This is most important to avoid any infection from humans to Gorillas, only one exception, when the Gorillas are approaching the tourists you may come closer than the 7 meter rule.
When we approached the Gorillas the group just had left the National park and was sitting a few hundred meters outside the NP borders in a Coffee plantation, quite exceptional by the fact that there was plenty of light (we had sunshine, only later heavy rain). Several of these magnificent apes climbed some trees whereas others were already hundred meters further down the hill. So we spend the first minutes with the Gorillas in the trees and went then down to find the Silverback.
At that moment the group left the trees and reunited with the rest and at that very moment we were between the 2 groups and the magic happened, please have a look at the ws pic.

Hi Tom, my neighbour today,
Technically not your best photo ever, but a very interesting one with excellent capture of the gorilla's facial expressions. The WS is even fearful - hopefully the guy's injuries weren't so heavy (smiley at the end?). Thanks for the interesting post and teaching us the "7 metres rule".
Best regards, L嫳zl

Hello Mr.Tom,
Beautiful picture of this Gorilla.WS picture is really excellent.Rare one.Beautiful animal. In jungle its better to copy the way they eat leaves. We shouldn't look at them straight.Sideway looking is the best way,I think.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice time,
Srikumar

Hello Tom,
What a neat shot of this fine looking Mountain Gorilla. I think the eyes of these magnificent animals are their most interesting feature. Love the facial expression on this particular specimen, almost as if it is daydreaming about the days agenda.
I checked out your WS and must admit, I'm not sure I would be brave enough to get that close to such a large primate.

Wonderful capture, Tom! The international gallery on the theme of gorillas is relatively poor, and every photographic record, like yours, is a jewel of great scientific value. I love the look especially while watching leaf vine that is between the fingers of one hand beautifully focused. Thank you very much, my friend, for this great contribution.

Hello Tom,
What a beautiful photo! I'm a bit jealous, because I was in Bwindi in 2001, before the digital period. I only got some slides with photos in poor quality.
This photo is gorgeous. Great sharpness, details and beautiful colours. Fabulous expression.
Regards,
Peter
