The Eurasian coot (Fulica atra), also known as coot, is a member of the rail and crake bird family, the Rallidae. The scientific name is from Latin; Fulica is "coot", and atra is "black". It is found in Europe, Asia, Australia and parts of Africa. The Australian subspecies is known as the Australian coot. The coot breeds across much of the Old World on freshwater lakes and ponds. It occurs and breeds in Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. The species has recently expanded its range into New Zealand. It is resident in the milder parts of its range, but migrates further south and west from much of Asia in winter as the waters freeze.

The movement of this bird in water has been well captured, Luciano, though you have been a bit miserly about the compositional space in front of the subject.
The glint in the eye is adorable.

A finely focused image of the Eurasian Coot in a relaxed swimming pose. The beak appears exceptionally white and you made excellent eye contact. The water is quite clear and has a nice color to it. I would like to see a tad bit more space in front of the bird, but otherwise a great photo.
Ciao Luciano, graziosa paperella con bell'occhietto vispo, ottimi dettagli e magnifici colori, bravo, anche da TN ti auguro uno splendido 2017 e tante belle farfalle, ciao Silvio
