Turkish Name: Sar覺bandl覺 Z覺pz覺p Kelebei

Distribution in Turkey: Turkey is anywhere.

Distribution in the world: Turkey, western Spain, Southeastern France, Italy, the Balkan Peninsula, Ukraine, Crimea, Moldova, Iran, the Trans-Caucasus, the North-West Asia, the Urals, Kazakhstan ..

Food Plants of the caterpillar: Caterpillars, feeding on the plants grow Cinquefoils (Potentilla species).

Description-Notes: Be the best way to distinguish is to look at the bottom of the wing. Orange yellow, sometimes with two rows at the bottom of the wing-band is a species easy to distinguish. The origin of the name: Sida is the beloved wife of Orion. She was very beautiful, many believed that she was like an immortal goddess. Puffed up, the young Sid dared to compete in beauty with the queen of the gods, the majestic Hero. For this insolence the wife of Zeus overthrew her in Tartarus (V. Savchuk)

Hi Seyfi,

The flower is helping tp frame the butterflies. The point of view is showing the details of the Pyrgus sidae butterflies. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

Dear Seyfi,
a pleasure to see this well portrayed couple of the colourful yellow skipper from last summer at this time of the year! Very nice also to read about the origin of their scientific name. Scientists of the late 18th century were masters of enriching the perception of nature with phantasy by citing antique myths and fairy-tales. Thank you!
With best regards,
Peter
