The name "millipede" is a compound word formed from the Latin roots milli ("thousand") and ped ("foot"). Despite their name, millipedes do not have 1,000 legs, although the rare species Illacme plenipes has up to 750. Common species have between 36 and 400 legs.

Millipedes can be easily distinguished from the somewhat similar and related centipedes (Class Chilopoda), which move rapidly, and have a single pair of legs for each body segment. However, unlike centipedes, millipedes are by nature not predators, and due to their slow, non-aggressive behaviour and simple diet of decomposing leaves, are easy to keep and ideal as pets

Hello Aneta,
Interesting species - I have seen very few millipedes and this one is very colorful. Focus is very sharp on the head, but I would prefer a bit more depth of field since the focus becomes soft after about 10 segments.
You may have not had much choice to stop down the aperture, but that would have improved the shot in my opinion.
Regardless, I like the shot and appreciate your post and note.

Hi Aneta,
Good POV, depth of field has failed a bit at the end of the insect. However, it is a good shot and nicely composed. It's not easy taking a picture of these guys! ... Good work, Thanks for sharing. Jess
