Thanks for your visit and much appreciated critique/comments.
As you so rightly refer to their beauty, these ducks are loose hands the best 'lookers' in duck city.
Concerning the aspect of him lying on the dirty ground I will basically give you the same answer I gave to Jaap (carper). My notes pointed out to the fact that 'during the daytime they spend much of their time resting in shady areas'. This is exactly what this duck was doing and it is only my flash that lit up the scene. It was my decision to show this specific behaviour as there is already about 45 other photos of mandarin's in various poses, but I could find only 1 showing it lying down.
There is another motivation that you probably picked up though. Since I wanted to congratulate and celebrate Chi Liu's 100th posting I wanted to do some word play to link up with his Chinese name so the resting (chilling) mandarin became Chi-Ling mandarin. This would not have worked well with a 'swim-ming' or 'stan-ding' duck, or something like that (chuckle).
I hope that somehow cleans up the act of my 'dirty duck'.
PS. The Sharks very nearly pulled of the surprise I forecasted. A big disappointment though. Speak to you later.
